Technology is always advancing, often faster than one can keep up with it. New computer components are appearing on the market constantly, all better than the generation before it, new phones are a yearly thing, each proclaiming themselves the latest in technology. Even USB cables and devices keep getting faster and faster, improving themselves constantly.

It was 17 years ago, in 2000 that USB 2 cables were released, increasing the bandwidth from 12Mbit/s to 480 Mbit/s (Megabits per second), and now we’re up to USB 3 cables, which are thankfully compatible with 2 devices (even if they run at 2 speeds).

That means that USB 3 cables are currently running at super speeds, and can deliver data and responses much, much, faster than their predecessors. And in a world where computers and data inputs are getting faster, that response time, which may seem so fast we can’t even comprehend it, is critical.

The USB 3 is also much better for energy efficiency, which is always a plus. Energy saved is money saved, even if it’s a small amount.

But what does that all mean?

Well, outside USB 3 cables and their vast improvement over USB 2s, there has been a lot of other technology increases over the years. The fact that smartphones and cell phones are commonplace, with over 101 million iPhone users alone in the U.S. That’s not including cell phone accessories and cell phone cables, which have also improved.

Shatterproof cases, factory proof cases, cases and phone that are waterproof, and cables that can be plugged into just about anything to charge. There are even some phones that can charge wirelessly, though the technology hasn’t quite gone beyond the early stages.

Technology is improving so fast that lately the idea of a self-repairing phone screen for your smartphone has become a reality. Soon, in three or so years, it’ll be on the markets for wide-spread use.

So what can you do to keep track of all these technological advancements? Well, use technology. The internet is a plethora of information, and nearly everything that’s going on is listed on it somewhere. That includes technological advancements.

And if you’re lost on where to look, just reach out and ask someone like us. We’re more than willing to help!
